Touchstone - the Jenny Edition

By request of Jenny, a 796 page block of rambling teen adventure.  [It started out over 900 pages, but since Lulu only does hardcovers up to 800 pages I had to reduce the font and prune the margins.]

I'm only going to add it to Lulu for the moment - purchasing the extended distribution package would mean raising the price and it's already hefty enough.  [$3 of the price goes to me - the rest to Lulu.]

[You won't have trouble spotting this one in the mail, Jennies - it's liable to be bigger than your mailbox.]

  1. I'm definitely considering getting this, though I will probably end up getting the paperbacks' on Amazon instead (I like to carry a book around in my purse, and this is probably too big and heavy for that.)

I wanted to ask, do you feel any sadness when you finish writing a series? The characters in this are so fleshed out, so real, I imagine that writing them becomes sort of personal at some point. Just curious how you feel about it all. :)

I haven't finished Caszandra yet, because I've managed to take it slowly, not wanting it to end. But I'm very much looking forward to the epilogue. And I think I'll be starting on the Medair books next (probably after I reread the Touchstone trilogy though). :) Love your work!

  2. Glee! I stopped half way through this comment to look at my bookcase and figure out where it's going to sit.

  3. @ Zoe - I guess that would depend on whether the ending is a sad one. ;) But, no, I'm usually pleased to finish the books - and as with the Gratuitous Epilogue, I'm quite inclined to keep writing little extra bits past the natural end of the story. There's a whole extra chapter of the Medair duology, for instance, which could be summarised as "Islantar's reaction" and "how would that work in bed?"

    @ Jenny - doorstop.

  4. I've just finished Stained Glass Monsters, which was the last book of yours I had to read. Looking forward to 2012 and the release of your newest book! I love your characters, style of writing, and most of all your worlds. Thank you for many hours of enjoyment. :) Note: I download your books on Kindle, which saves me from lugging everything around. I wish I had a system interface like the Touchstone world.

  6. @ bern - Few things could improve the world more than books you can read with your eyes closed. Except...possibly I would never sleep.

  7. I think I want the hardcover instead of the paperbacks...:P

Andrea, does this book include the Epilogue piece or is that still going to be separate?

  8. I just heard about "The Gratuitous Epilogue" on Goodreads today. I finished "Caszandra" yesterday and have been thinking about everyone since so I am excited about the new book.
I read a lot and even though I am a grandma I love your teen adventure, "Touchstone".
Your characters are so real even in an unreal world such as theirs.
    Thank you!

  9. @ Cindy - Glad you enjoyed it!

@ Rowen - No, the GE isn't part of the hardcover. I wasn't planning to make a print version of it, though I guess I could do up a skinny little TPB if there was demand for it.

  12. I think I would purchase a TPB of the GE, since I'm planning on getting the three in the series already.

  13. ah-ha I found my christmas present to myself XD It'll look nice next to the paperback editions (so I might have the books in 3 different formats...that's not weird or anything. not for me at least, I have 12 different versions, including various foreign language editions I can't quite read, of at least two books...) and w00t I'd buy a paperback of the GE. Completism demands as such!
